Teacher Edition, Juno Drivers, and Windows 8

19 March 2015|Hannah Olson

Teacher Edition is a great piece of recording/control software, and it really rocks when used with Juno's voice commands. To make that happen, the Juno Tower and Microphone drivers need to be installed along with the Teacher Edition application. All easy, but Windows 8 users sometimes hit a snag: Windows 8 doesn't prompt you to install drivers from unknown publishers. Fortunately here's a hack to get it to prompt you if you're using either Windows 8 or 8.1:

Windows 8

  1. Invoke the Charms bar by moving your mouse over the top or bottom right corner of the screen and click Settings.
  2. Click Change PC Settings
  3. Click General
  4. Under Advanced Startup, click Restart Now
  5. When the computer restarts, click Troubleshoot
  6. Click Advanced Options
  7. Click Startup Settings
  8. Click Restart
  9. The system will restart with the ability to let you choose which mode you’d wish to boot your system in. Choose option 7 by clicking the function key F7.
  10. The system will boot normally and won’t look visually different than it did before. However, driver installation won’t be blocked entirely. Install the Teacher Edition software application. If prompted to install Juno Tower drivers, click Install this driver anyway.

After installing the application and drivers, restart Windows to return it to its previous state.

Windows 8.1

  1. Invoke the Charms bar by moving your mouse over the top or bottom right corner of the screen and click Settings.
  2. Click Change PC Settings
  3. Click Update and Recovery
  4. Click Recovery
  5. Click Restart now under Advanced startup
  6. In the list of options presented select Troubleshoot
  7. Choose Advanced options among the troubleshoot options.
  8. Choose Startup Settings
  9. Click Restart
  10. The system will restart with the ability to let you choose which mode you’d wish to boot your system in. Choose option 7 by clicking the function key F7.
